Any idea what this connector is for?

1 is the connector in question. It has two male spades inside the shroud.
 
Located in the front drivers part of the engine bay, one white wire, one black.
 
It comes out of the same loom as the big connector, 2.
 
It's on a 2.5TD Ultima 1997.
