Scorpio 2.9 12v Estate, 1996

I am looking to replace the rocker gaskets on my Scorpio as I have a bit of an oil leak that I think may be coming from there.

I've tried a couple of Ford dealers and have been asked if I have a Lambda sensor. How do I find out if I have one?

That seems a very weird question.... Huh

I've not much experience of the 12v but I had assumed they all had lambdas...

maybe the early ones didn't?? I wouldn't have thought so though, maybe a bit of Granada syndrome going on?? Smiley

Don't they take your reg number?

When using a Ford Dealer, they should ALL be able to tell the exact car with the registration, even if it's been changed to a private registration!

12v has a Lambda in each downpipe, but is irrelevant when ordering rocker cover gaskets,I often marvel at certain individuals in main dealers. You can get the gaskets from a motor factor or engine recon shop, thus circumventing aggravation   Roll Eyes

Thanks guys for your replies.

I've called 2 Ford dealers and both asked me the same question about the Lamda sensors, even though I gave them my registration details.

The 2 parts they gave me were:
1651474 (without) £6.50 + vat
6906225 (with) + vat

I've read a few things on the forum about these gaskets which seemed to suggest thay were about £5 or £6 so I was assuming I wanted the gaskets for non Lambda, but sounds like I may be wrong.

I'll try a couple of other Ford dealers and motor factors.

Hi Tom,

dunno if you're interested but theres a thread popped up today on the XR Owners Club forum looking at importing rubber rocker cover gaskets as a group buy.

A bit dearer but apparently loads better than the leaky cork ones we have here Smiley
