Sunroof motor gear

Having made a tit of myself with the boot strut thing I'm reluctant to post this. I've take the motor out of the sunroof and found a stipped gear. I have freed off the winding mechanism so that it winds back and forward manually. The motor turns the wheel when disconected but does not have the torque to turn the roof due to the missing teeth. Does anyone know if you can buy the nylon gear? If I buy a whole motor I risk the same problem. Thanks, Jeff

My local Ford dealer up in North Scotland told me that the gear isn't available separately. What I did was converted mine to a manual sunroof. The shroud for the manual handle was about £12, I can't remember how much the handle was, but not too expensive. Course maybe you want yours to remain electric.

Thanks for the reply. I would convert to manual. Anyone want to sell me the parts?

The handle is common with a few other Fords, for sure the Mondeo of the same era. But for all the price of the conversion, I would go with new stuff.

I think they had trouble with the gear & stopped making them. This may fit but you'd need to check - you also need a fat wallet: http://www.sunroofgears.com/purchase.htm

Woops, did not read the post properly. odometergears were very quick in replying to my email but were unable to help, it was sunroof gears that did not reply. I dont think the price is not to bad, app £35, if they fit.
