Hi
I'm a new Scorpio owner (although I have had plenty Granadas) and have just got a R reg 2.3 which is proving to be a challenge!

My first task with any new car is an oil change and I did that yesterday.  In the process, I went to check the oil level but...no dipstick.  Looking at a picture of the engine, i think I can see that the dipstick should be on the nearside of the block towards the rear.  On mine - nothing!  So, if it IS meant to be there, I'm assuming the dipstick and the tube have gone AWOL.  I would expect to see a very oily engine if that was the case, but its nice and clean.  I have removed the exhaust manifold shield as best I could and had a poke around but nothing - this has got me stumped!
Now, I know I will sound like a berk, but any help would be gratefully received.

Sounds like a previous owner has forgot to pop it back in, have s look.in the gap under scuttle tray, down the side of the inner wing or on the front cross member, thats wher i tend to put things like that when im tinkering lol,

Doubt its fallen off though, they are held in the block and bolted to the head, and ad you say oil would be everywhere

He sez its tube is missing as well. Oo-er ..  Shocked

AFAIK that's right mk1boy should be a yellow loop handle beside rear end of the NHS cam cover.

Possibly tube screws in, has someone replaced it with a bolt or something like that?

Well, I've had another rummage around and I just can't find where the dipstick tube fits into the block.  I really don't want to remove the exhaust manifold etc but I really need to know where the dipstick tube should be! Can anyone point me in the direction of a picture of the block so I can find out where I should be looking?
thanks

Can be undone and removed but looks like the bottom can shaped bit stays behind, or it is on page 6. (?)

On my 2.3 the bolt shown holding it in the PDF also secures an earth strap so you may find the bolt by following the strap.

Thanks guys, I was expecting it to be a bit lower on the side of the block - perhaps just above the sump.  I'll take another look at the weekend.
