Rob,
I think the surround for the Mirrored visor is stuck on and doesn't come off very easy.
I changed my visors in my car to the ones from a 1998 -2002 Ford Focus. They have the mirror but it is covered either by a lift up flap or on later cars by a sliding door. They are very similar in shape and size to the Scorpio ones and you only have to pull out the mounting rod from the Focus visor and replace it with the Scorpio one....
You then fit a courtesy light in the headlining above the visor..... these come from the focus too

okay but then another problem  those focus lichts dont lay around on the scrapyards.
i was so happy with my scorpio sun visor 
but it is in. and i dont even use it..its for the Girlfriend.. so she better be happy with it

The handbook says carefully prise off the mirror frame with a screwdriver.
I just tried mine, slid my finger nails under the top edge & pulled & it came away.
I hadn’t realised before if you leave it switched on the light goes off when you fold the visor up.
