if accelerating hard what would the max maf reading be?   i have connected laptop to obd using ve peppers sware so can play back after a journey

mine jumps up to the odd 7.35  and even 11.2  is that to be expected ??  ..doesnt seem right to me thought it was linear related to rpm  ...any thoughts appreciated..(its a brand new maf)

if wrong what else might do that ..?

Further to my other post elsewhere (misfiring badly):

Going by that, doesn't sound right to me either!

It does go some way to explain the misfiring thing, if the PCM thinks more air is coming in than there actually is, problee make it run too rich

It’s not “linear related to rpm” it’s measuring air flow so related to throttle position/rpm/baro pressure etc.

I assume you’re using the enhanced section of the data tab in the software as I can only see pounds/minute on the normal data tab.
My 2.3 went up to 4.?? volts foot down uphill on the first of the 2 available MAF/volt outputs of the enhanced page.

Hi John,
I’m using ver 1.51 of the software.
In graph view if I hover the mouse over a graph it shows to the right what  X & Y is plotting. In the case of the MAF it’s:
Y seconds (since connection to the car)
X #/min (pounds/min).

In Data view when you select MAF it shows near the bottom of the page what the output measure is (pounds/min).

Whilst you can see & record the output in volts when you go to the enhanced page you cannot plot it as a graph.

The procedure in enhanced is select supported click send. When it’s finished downloading supported values from the car, scroll down to find item 38 MAF_V, select it & click send to get the live data.
The enhanced window stays on top, so you have to drag it to one side if you want to get to the main window (I think it will stop recording the enhanced data you selected if you close the enhanced window).
