You need a speed sensor to match the diff ratio,I doubt the Sierra one would be suitable though. The next ratio to yours is a V6 which is 3.64 as against the diesel at 3.36,the Sierra probably had a 4.2 or similar, much lower hence the speedo reading.

would a speed sensor out of a 24v auto box do the job ??
i presume a 24v auto box is different to a diesel autobox ??

Sierra Auto's have a 3.62 or a 3.38  diffs

but they are for 165/13  or 185 65 14 tyres  ( both work out to almost the same size  165 total Diameter is 59.42 cm  and the 185 65 14 Total Diameter:59.61 cm )

What size wheel/tyre is your Scorp ?

Acording to this website with that tyre size

http://www.kouki.co.uk/utilities/visual-tyre-size-calculator

if you used a Sierra 3.62 or a Scorpio 3.64 speedo drive     your speedo 60mph will be actualy be 62.2 mph

have you checked your speedo against a sat nav or gps  speed  Scorpio speedo's are generaly an optomistic  guess at how fast you are going anyway

you can fit ford mustang AOD vss gears to scorpio A4LDe/E Box. they have wide selection of teeth and available in US Ebay and other sites which sell AOD parts

for example, 2.0 16v rear diff + scorpio 2.3 16v A4LD + 205/55R16, this gear makes speedo show only 1% more than real speed, eg VERY accurate: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Fox-Mustang-AOD-23-Tooth-Speedometer-Gear -CLIP-302-351-/180393687081
(I bought and fitted that)

more teeth = speedo shows lower

I've also tried 19,20,21

At my experiences between them difference between 1 teeth is about (if I remember correct) 5%-unit in speedo error

so if your speedo reads for example 110 at 100 (error 10%) or 55 at 50 (error 10%), i'd say you need two more teeth in vss gear. Figure out what percentage you have, and then try to find better vss gear. Changing it is very easy once you get under the car
