Hey,

Last week, my rear driveshaft came loose from my diff.
The bolts broke off and are stuck in my diff. I've tried drilling them out, but I didn't even scratch the bolts.
Does anybody know how I can get those bolts out of my diff?

If you mean an output shaft, you can remove the diff backplate, pull the retaining circlip of the flange shaft and slide it out to operate on it on the bench. It is now possible to get both sides, try a self grip wrench with two small spacers,eg two little nuts, and wind them out bit by bit, alternatively you could spot weld something to the studs to screw them out,or gently blow them out with a gas welder. If all else fails someone will flog you a used flange I'm sure. The V6s and diesels have a bigger flange than yours, best measure before buying.

Thank you very much.
I'm going to try it tomorrow or Thursday, I'll post the outcome on here.
I just want to get it running, I'm getting tired of driving my mom's boring Hyundai Santa Fé.

Not quite sure how you managed to sheer those bolts ( ALL 6  Huh )  Shocked Shocked Shocked
Have you tried tapping the leftover bit with a centre punch and a hammer to try and unscrew them ?
Might be easier and less messy than taking the diff apart.

Scorpio_Mike, I don't know how it happenend, but when I drove off at a traficlight, it just came off.  Tongue
I used your technique, because I couldn't quite get the diff off. All went well and my Scorp is running like a champ. Cheesy

I don't know how it happened either. I guess they weren't tightened enough or something.

That's the only thing I can think of, but then again remaining studs tight? Well 'cause of being broken off maybe

The remaining studs were removed by just putting a screwdriver in an uneven bit. Then tapping it with a hammer, came right out. Except for one, which I had to drill out. But all is well now, so I'm happy.
