Before my old un goes off to the scrappie, I have decided to tackle a problem with the o/s rear window not working on my new un. Is it a simple job to replace the motor, if thats what it is or should I look elswhere first (Fuses, relays. etc)
It is only the one window that has never worked.

Cheers all

Must be a first to check the fuses. Central Fuse box 25,26 and 28. 28 specifically refers to rear power windows. If only the rear offside is u/s have you checked/swopped the switches?. Does it fail to operate from both switches.ie: the drivers control and the individual switch in the door.

Not as simple as dirty plug connectors?

Not yet. Tried all the connectors and fuses etc, but at the moment trying to figure out how to remove old one with window in up position. I know I need to remove the six rivets and re bolt or re rivet (Need a rivet gun), but what worries if the replacement does not solve the problem.Huh

Yes, would be good if you can find out whether there's actually 12 Volts on the connector during when the switches are operated to open / close (?)

Presumably you’ve tested for power at the door harness connector or at the switch or at the motor & tried powering the motor directly.

Kev.
I'm not too sure how the switches are wired on the standard cars, but my funeral vehicles sometimes gave trouble if one switch in the circuit was faulty, this would result in neither switch operating the window in question.Might be worth taking the switches from the other side and substituting them for the faulty side.I think all the switches are the same on standard cars where mine differed. It's surprising how a bath of WD40 followed by a good waggling and shake out can reconstitute them.

With the ignition on open the door with the duff window  press the switch and wobble the loom between the car and door see if it works

If you can get at the motor then a few sharp taps on the motor should free the motor up.
They tend to stick if not used for a long time...........

Do the lights work in the door switches? if not, check the connector from the car body to the door itself. Give it a twist to make sure it is connected properly
