2.3 Facelift Headlamp Washers

On checking the operation of the headlamp washers the nearside one flew straight out and the offside did not retract fully into the bumper.  I think this was probably due to blocked jets as the washers had not been used for at least six months.  Having cleaned the jets I am having a problem replacing them.  I can push them in to about half to three quarters of an inch from the bumper but no further.  Is there a special way of doing this please?

Hi - still a problem assembling headlamp washer jets.  Please, does anyone know the method used for the retraction movement?  Is it spring loaded on cessation of the water pressure or some mechanical movement of the holder?  Also, please, what holds the jets in to stop them ejecting from the holder?  I have not looked underneath due to old age and cannot find any link showing details of this.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The retraction is done by a spring, the pressure of the water pushes the jet up. They should not come apart.

Hi Kev
Many thanks for your response.  I tried phoning you but don't seem to get a reply.  I have now managed to refit the washer jets, it appears that you need one arm under the bumper holding the washer pipe while pushing the jet in with the other hand.  Things seem to be OK now so I'll see how it goes.
Many thanks once again,
James
