Hi. My remote needs to be about 2 feet from front windscreen to do the doors and can sometimes take 5/6 pushes. BUT the boot bit works about 15 feet away. Huh
I have serviced both remotes, but both are the same, any suggestions please.

Thanks

Most likely button contacts gone high resistance. Boot not so much as not used as often as lock / unlock. 'Least mine went like that (I measured the button pad resistances).

Try the pencil trick. Grin

Stating the obvious ~ Grin

Are batteries OK, battery contacts clean, contact 'fingers' on the PCB clean, no dross in between them (may need magnifying glass)

Electronics contacts / switch cleaner aerosol is good stuff.

I usually have to stand right next to the car else can't hear the motors working or need to test door handle to make sure lol Grin

Do the indicators not flash on the second press on yours to confirm double locking ?

Hmmm.   All four indicators flash twice on mine to indicate it's dead-locked.   When mine was dead-locked, when you un-locked it all four indicators used to flash once but since I disconnected the battery to fit my wooden steering-wheel, it doesn't flash on the un-locking any more!   (Still flashes twice for the deadlock)  Which is strange, because the battery has been disconnected before.    I went to my mate at my friendly dealer and he said he'd never heard of a Scorpio flashing on the un-lock, apparently Ford decided NOT to have the car flash on the un-lock for security because if someone got your keys but didn't know the registration, they could just go around looking for the car by pressing the remote and looking for the car that flashed it's indicators.

Could be a "fault", but I read here somewhere not all the UK market cars flash at all, mine's 1995 and is bottom of the heap Executive trim level. (?)

Mine flashes "on" after 2 pushes, but has never flashed "off"
The only time that it did this was after an alarm activation...

Also on another turn, has anyone ever fitted an aftermarket alarm that controls the central locking and boot etc...

Aftermarket alarms can't generally control the locks as they are all multiplex controlled (i.e. a computer module sends a series of codes to the locks to tell them to lock or unlock rather than just sending a 12v pulse as on older cars) and only the very expensive alarms (clifford 650 etc) and send multiplex codes.

Kev. There have been more problems caused than enough in the past by the fitting of aftermarket alarms!. Most of which are discovered when other problems come to light and the owner then finds that someone had previously fitted an aftermarket alarm which had been disabled.....probably because it was causing problems!. Best advice.....forget it. Grin
