Diff Advice Needed

Oh B@lls  Huh

Came to build the 7.5" diffs for the Puma yesterday, have stripped 2 Cosworth GRANADA diffs and robbed the LSD's, and Stripped a 4.27 to fit the LSD into, will also be doing a 3.9 for it soon.

No problem built the diff up, all ok.

I'm using Cosworth Scorpio Shafts Hubs Etc, these have 108mm Lobro's (CV Joints), the biggest of all I'm told.

I have some 108mm Diesel / Cossie Scorpio flanges for the diff, which ages ago some numpty told me fitted the LSD !!
They DON'T !!
Once the LSD is installed these don't fit because the diff gears are central in an open diff and offset in a viscous LSD, and therefore I need a 108mm flange with a longer shaft one side and shorter shaft the other side.

Does anyone know if these 108mm Shaft Joints were fitted to anything standard (with 7.5" Viscous LSD) in the ford range Huh

Or am I going to have to have standard open diff 108mm ones machined and shafts from the LSD versions machined and then get hem professionally welded together Huh

The only other option I can see is to go down a size in driveshafts, joints, and hub stub axles but I don't want to do this and I'm not even sure these would be the right length, or fit the Cosworth SCORPIO hubs Huh

Certainly Sierra rear shafts are too short, as I've looked at a set Sad

Any Ideas Huh

Cheers Dave

Ahh I've had a reply on another forum................

The flanges I need do exist, 108mm with Viscous LSD were fitted to 2wd Sierra Cosworth.................

Anyone got a pair, I'm going to need 3 pairs in all to build all my diffs up Wink

If anyone has a set they could post me for beer tokens please let me know Wink

Cheers Dave

Hi Matt,

No that's the problem, GRANADA Cosworth has 7.5" Viscous LSD, but 100mm flanges LOL,

The flanges I need are 108mm, but the only 7.5" LSD with these was 2wd Sierra Cosworth....................

The 108mm Diesel and V6 Scorpio's all had open diffs so their flanges, (which I already have 2 sets of, and I think you have another set for me LOL) don't fit the LSD !!

Got a headache now,  Grin

I've got one pair of Cosworth Sierra ones coming now, so I only need 2 more sets for the other 2 diff ratios (3.9 and 3.6) Wink

First Event is end of the month, 2wd mode with 4.27 diff, so at least I can get that one in first, building it this afternoon.
Gearbox is already built with 2wd transfer guts, might get engine in and running by Saturday  Grin Grin Grin

Cheers Dave
