Does not look like there is any scoring or damage. Had a mechanic mate look at it and he reckons it was quite lucky that there was no more damage other than the piston Smiley

Hi All, Matt kindly PM'd me the instructions to remove the subframe so I could get access to the sump for removal. Subframe dropped successfully and all the bolts removed from the sump including the four bolts on the bell housing but the d**n thing won't come off Angry It won't slide out or drop off!! Help because I can't see what's holding it if anything. Thanks Lee

hiya lee

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/dohc16v/DOHC16VDismant.pdf

instruction 32, says it should just come off downwards

its it lose one end? or does it seem like its still fixed solid

could just be sealant, give it a tap with a rubber mallet or hide hammer

Thanks for the link Matt but it shows the removal with the engine out. The sump is stuck at the bell housing, it drops down at the front!! Theres a thin metal type plate between the sump and the bell housing and the sump cover itself protrudes about half an inch into the housing. It's not a removal of the box is it Sad

Hiya Lee

The thinn plate is just a dirt cover to protect the flywheel / drive plate.

i cant see another bolt being there however a quick look at the 2.3 manual shows a location dowl on the rear corner, it could be stuck on this, try twisting and pulling at the same time, or a prybar

reading further down the 2.0 maunal theres an allignment opperation, it could be stuck with excessive sealant

How we getting on with this?

Lee certainly seems to be unlucky with his cars (the 1st one having pranged on black ice)  Sad
