One 24 valve off the road with a busted Vacume hose T piece (the large one) and my other 24 valve has failed the MOT on CO emissions: Max Limit = 0.300, actual emissions 1.67. Lambda Min Limit = 0.970, actual reading = 0.969. Fast Idle Test. Second Idle Test: CO Max Limit = 0.300. actual reading = 1.606 Lambda Min Limit = 0.970. Actual reading = 0.951 Natural Idle Test: CO Max Limit 0.500. Actual reading 2.511 Not happy. My local Ford people have said that one of my Cats is defunct! I am Scorpyless. And have just laid out for 250gbp for other Scorpy work. Any ideas about cheap Cats folks and which one is it? Mike

Re T piece I bought an 8mm & 10mm made from brass off ebay, sawed the ends off and got my mate to braze the 10 onto the two 8's. Fits like a glove although a bit of a knuckle destroyer to fit!! Re High emissions My 24v failed MOT on sky high emissions a few years ago, cant remember the figures but ridiculousy high. I got the car read with OBD and it turned out to be a pre-cat sensor, the cats themselves were OK. much easier to fit as well Tony

Thanks very much for your reply Tony. Regarding the T piece I'll open a new thread. Now for the failure and nearly scrapped "Beast". . She passed her MOT folks. Having failed her test on emissions: I managed to get fitted 2 new original pre Cat HO2 sensors fitted for the price of 1. Hmmmm "sorted ". Wrong! She still failed on emissions. High hydrocarbons. Advice given, "New Cats, mate" . So I took her away, changed the Engine Oil and filters , gave her welly, again, had a new Test. PASSED. "The Beast" lives. Interesting though that all my Tyres were put on the "Advisory" even though three of them have 6mm of thread with the other 1.6mm (on the limit). Best regards Mike

Well: The MOT showed 1 pre cat sensor as duff but did not say which one . I had last year replaced both pre Cat Sensors with cheap ones. When I went to price up one Ford Sensor I yelped, cried really, at the price and the bloke said the best he could offer was two for the price of one. So considering that I did not know which Sensor was duff, and that I would have Ford Sensors plus one good Sensor as a spare when all was said and done I went for it. Mike

Just another thought Mike H. If it's the Cats you are refering to I was advised that they (the Garage) could not tell me which one was duff . They based their prognosis on the High Hydocarbons and the Low Lambda limit being too low . I shall be keeping my eyes open for Cats....once I have a bit of cash to spare that is. Mike
