It is what it is. V6 24v 2.9. Auto boxes don't help MPG. Fuel prices ever escalating. 80% in fuel duty. I keep my cossies for weekend useage/fun. Use my Scorpio 2.5td auto estate on long runs using veg oil. Actually runs better with 100% WVO. All the luxury of a Scorpio without the cost. So, no real silver bullet on MPG.

Just found this on the website does this still apply with the current prices in fuel.  Grin

'Recently I spoke to another Scorpio Ultima ownCosworth. Now he couldn't get used to the drop in power, no matter how smooth the new 2.3 engine might be.' er and I looked down at his front wing as we spoke. I saw the numbers 2.3 on the wing. "What a shame." I said. "Pity you didn't go for the 24 valve."

You don't have to tell me that. I used to have one: I traded it for this. I thought it would be better on petrol, but I do miss the power." We chatted for a while. He explained that he was on the road all day and he thought the 24V was a bit heavy on petrol, so he bought the 2.3 in the same Ultima trim. But he then found that because he had to thrash the engine harder there was not a lot of difference in the fuel consumption'

Because we are selling our 2.3 and have just brought a 24v i hope this is still true.  Grin

If you drive the car how it supposed to be driven, which is how I drive my 2.3, then the petrol gets sucked-up!   I went to Aberdeen from my house a couple of weeks ago, a 90 mile journey on an A road and did it in 1hr 40 mins.   It didn't seem like I was under about 80 mph all the way, and at some points was doing 110 mph.   Needless to say the car used the fuel, I think that the next tank-full came out at about 26mpg.   But I know a local that has a 24V that drives it quite hard and returns a constant 23-24mpg.   Best I've had out of mine on a distance, sitting at 80-85 mph with CC on is 30mpg.   They are what they are!   Grin

Think for mine it sez 26 psi or something like that, however I like to keep them around 30 psi. Always "goes better" after a "top up" Grin

No really can be noticeable, if they had dropped 2 or 3 pounds in the interim. A certain amount of "drag" seems to disappear.

With the 225/50 R16 pressures are 29psi front 26 psi rear.  I've got Avons on and the wear is about perfect over the tread, with very light feathering on both sides of the out side of all tyres where I go round bends too hard on the last three miles of my journey on a 10ft wide road to the house.     Grin
