Oil leak

Hi all
As some of you know we have a oil leak on our 24v. I was told what colours mean what and to leave a piece of cardboard underneath to see where abouts the leak is, BUT I have forgotten both things  Embarassed. The car isnt at home at the minuite so i went on the drive and found a small bit oil. I put a cloth on it (dont know if this is a way of telling colour) and it is black The car drives fine and temp always stays around half way so im hoping its not a head gasket or anything serious  Cry if anything its to the left hand side of the engine i think The car had a ford diagnostic kit put over it by matt around a week or 2 ago and it came back fine but it still does need a oil change that we are yet to do.
Any Ideas  Huh
Thanks

I'll go with what Matt said ~ just look for oily looking areas. Can tend to spread about though but generally answers to gravity, so should be able to follow it up.

Also occurs to me because of the under tray it's dripping off that in a place not where it's coming from the engine, if that makes sense, but there may be a 'track' on it that'll give you clues. Dunno if I'm right.

Only one way to find out, have a look. Grin

rocker covers
oil cooler under the front cross member although that might just be on the diesel models cant remember lol

No mate bit of a pain. The car is used for going to and from work so its not here that often but someone suggested i get the plate of the bottom because that might give a false sense of where its leaking from. The temp is always at halfway and its not using water more than it should so i don think its serious. but i will have to try to sort out asap

take the  plug leads out m8 that is a dead give away and i would go with rocker covers m8 ,
i did lisas and bort a head set and changed all the o rings and some other gaskets cus you have to remove a load off them to get to the rocker covers  Cool
