Replacing prop' shaft on 24v Ultima.

The prop' shaft on my car has been removed by a garage and now the ride is not of the quality which I have enjoyed over the past 14 years. It seems that Ford have balance the shaft by using fixing bolts off different lengths and different weights to achieve an accurate balance and the garage did not know this. I may have located a prop' shaft on a scrap 24V at a reasonable price. I would be pleased to hear of readers opinions as to my best course of action. If I do go for the S/H shaft then of course the nuts and bolts will have to be carefully marked for refixing. Malcolm73

snap ! my vehicle used to be smooth as silk until garage performed maintenance on gearbox. My European cruising is now limited as any rate over seventy five induces eyeball de-focusing. Aids petrol consumption I suppose. There are firms out there who do this balancing thing but in my case I have not hastened the case.

You could try turning the prop 1/4 turn in relation to the diff flange and see if that improves things...then you can try it again and once more. Nothing to lose really
