You as long term user of this forum should know that the Scorpio is wrong, since there are Scorpios that are not OBD-II compliant. But if yours is compliant than it should fit.
Google source:
ElmCan ELM327 IC for all 9 OBD2/EOBD-Protocols according

    ISO 9141-2
ISO 14230-4 (KWP2000 fast und slow)
ISO 15765-4 (CAN 250/500 kB 11/29 Bit ID)
    SAE J1850 PWM und VPW

As OBD2 was introduced 1996, if your car is older (or even circa 1996) will be OBD1.

As mine is.

OBD-I only came to be called OBD-I after introduction of OBD-II.

The date cars were required to have OBD11 & the introduction date isn’t necessarily the same. Unless you have a diesel or a 12v your’s will be OBD11.

12v & TD uses the 3 pin Star system, give you 3 digit codes that you look up in a chart

Whoaaaaa boys whoaaaaa..................

Those ELM and KWP systems will be worse than useless on Fords with EECIV (OBD1) and EECV (OBD2)

I have both, great for continental stuff like Merc's BMW's Fiat's Alfa's etc with Marelli, Bosch and Weber ECU's, but very limited on anything else.

For regular DIY on your Fords, Startester is great for OBD1, but for OBD2 Alex Pepper stuff so I'm told, never used Alex's gear tho.
If you really want excellence then some good deals can be had on SnapOn MT2500 Scanner or if you want the ultimate FORD FDS 2000, or Ford WDS (hard to get).
These can be picked up for bargain prices secondhand off E of the Bay these days, as garages are updating there equipment.
Snap On will do all your Airbag, Transmission, Engine, ABS etc...............
If you are a long term Ford Scorpio owner then the FDS is ultimate as it will allow you to reprogram CCM etc..............
Things like the indicators flashing on alarm setting, being able to open the boot from the keyfob when sat in car with engine running (Taxi Pack), etc etc

Just don't expect to get FDS for 50 quid lol cos I was really really lucky, but you should get one for £200 - £300 if you make offers punt around etc Wink

HTH,

Regards Dave

Glyn,

Startester is fine on the EECIV cars like your 12V.

It is a rip of the Ford Startester that FMD's used before FDS 2000 came out  Wink

Well Dave, I took your advice and being unable to get an FDS 2000 reasonably, bit hte bullet and just bought a Snap-on MT2500. Have to learn to use it now but on first try on one of the cossies today managed to retrieve ABS code which I knew must still be in there and cleared the code. Just a shame the operators manual doesn't have a section specific to the Ford GB pod which I was using, still very satisfying.
