I have looked at getting a scanner for some time, after I bought one for the vw. There seems a lot of different bits you need for the fds or the mt2500, modules leads etc, what bits/leads get you running with the mt2500. And how much would I have to spend, the one for the vw was only £37.

I'm sure somebody can answer this better than me as I have only just got mine. As far as I can tell to get the MT2500 running you will need at least
The scanner
A data lead
Data lead adapter(to connect to the car-if scorp OBD11 )
A cartridge either with several makes loaded or specific make eg Ford Primary cartridge
Preferably a PVCI cartridge as well
Might be wise to make sure specific cartridges are marked GB- I dont know what the American "Ford" covers
Finally you will need a Key to configure the lead .There are about 20+ and the UK ones are prefixed with S the American series with a K
Have a look on e-bay particularly if you dont mind one slightly damaged-bids at the moment starting about £30 for the scanner body up to £300+ for full kits.
