Just in case some of us don't realise this wee snippet of information.   The 2.3 litre and 2.0 litre dipsticks ARE-NOT interchangeable!   I busted my dipstick top off and thought that I'd just take the dipstick out of 'Aunty' mean-while, no no, they are quite a different length.   Not to worry I thought, I've got a spare from another engine...........would you believe it, it's a 2.0 litre one as well!   It looks like the yellow end where you hook your finger through is flattened, on top for the 2.3. Incidently, I know I have the right dipstick in mine because I measure the oil in when I change it.

Actually it was me wot broked it, struggling with a cat stud and the ratchet slipped....................

I did glue it back together, but Peter thought the 2.0 one would fit cos I didn't have a spare to hand.

No worries Dave mate.   I'm so pleased with the car now anyway, nothing could put a damper on me!

Peter,

Have you located a spare, did the glue not hold ??

If you can't get one we can do a permanent repair by drilling and tapping the 2 bits then gluing and screwing them together with say an M3 stud..............

FWIW that it would be an invisible repair and mechanically stronger than the original  Wink

Cheers Dave

Glue didn't hold!    Smiley   I've got another one now   Cool   Car is going like a dream, new front flexis on as well, female dog to fit on the off-side because the 3/16 pipe broke where it joins the flexi and I had to flare a new kunifer one in place.   All bled and sorted now.   Sore back from lying under the car with it on axle stands!

Good news,  Glad she's all sorted, shame we didn't have the flexi's, would have been so much easier on the lift  Wink

Cheers
