The mounts & mounting points are quite different in both type & location, I assume it's not practical to do it, but I've never looked under an estate. See here for the differences of the shocks:

What about spring assisters, I think they are somthing like an air bag inside the spring that you can inflate to help out when towing. Look at mad air helpers here  http://mad-suspension.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=3.

You need Monroe kit LA 355,air bags over shockers, the kit comes with piping and a little gauge with a schrader valve on it to inflate or deflate the bags to suit yourself. These are a direct replacement for the saloon, some of which were fitted with an automatic inflate/deflate via a load sensor on the back end and a little compressor behind the front bumper on the nearside. The original Ford units are,or were about £200 odd quid a piece, the complete Monroe kit comes at around the £100 mark. You can mount the gauge on a little bracket in the side of the boot and inflate with a push bike pump, the pipes are best fed through grommets in holes drilled through the uprights near to the pipe inlet on the units.

You could try fitting KYB RA5308 heavy duty (towing) springs like I did to my old Scorpio taxi. They made a hell of a difference in ride height & stiffness. Seem to remember they were only about £30 each as well  Smiley
