petrol flap wont stop locking

Well today I was locking the scorp and the locking petrol flap kept going, locking and unlocking. I tried to stop it by unlocking the car, no change, I had to take the battery earth off to stop it. Now I had the battery on charge at the time, would that have done it, it did not stop when I took it off charge. Any ideas, I think I will have to carry a 10mm spanner just in case, its never done it before.

I can't ever recall this arising before. The usual cause of such events is a fault with the lock itself. Often just dirt or poor connection etc. Certainly the main locks will 'cycle' like this if one of them isn't working correctly. I can't find anywhere on the site which helps re accessing the motor but maybe someone on here can help?. Please let us know how you get on. Good luck. Wink

UPDATE. I have had a look on Google and the best I can come up with re getting to the motor is Here albeit it relates to a Mondeo. Wink

Mine used to do it on hot days  Huh....Used to stop after locking/unlocking the car 3 or 4 times.

Never did get to the bottom of it, although it was definately something to do with that side of the car being in direct hot sunshine. If I parked so the petrol cap was in the shade, then it wouldn't happen  Roll Eyes

Does it still keep cycling if you leave the flap open?

Here’s mine locked but with the flap open.
In another thread Pedropedro said you remove the boot lining and just twist it to get it out.
If you look at the picture you can see the end is oblong and located by twisting it 45 degrees in the housing.
And yes it does need a clean Roll Eyes

Thanks for all the replies, it stopped after I disconnected the battery and reconnected it. It was parked with the flap in the sun, and being black, it gets warm. I did open the flap while it was doing it and saw the lock bolt going in and out. I have locked it and unlocked several times since, and all is ok. I have also given it some WD40, other sprays are available Grin, just for good measure.
