Blocked heater matrix cure.

Hi everyone, thought I would offer up a cure that I found for my non working heater, after months of putting up with the heater blowing luke warm and then stone cold ( minus 3 in the car on a winter trip ), I tried back flushing it which seemed to work for a day or so but then back to cold again, so when I was flushing a central heating system at work I wondered if the same liquid would work in the car so I drained the system and filled it back up with water and a drop of Sentinel central heating descaler, I ran it round for two days then flushed it with a hose, I couldnt believe how much filth came out , I started the car and within no time at all the heater was hot like it should be, infact it has never been so hot, so rather than change the matrix it's worth a try,

I wish you had posted this like a week earlier.

How does this liquid work? Got to run it through, or can it just "sit" there?

I've got a detached 'blocked' matrix and I'd like to see what  it has inside Roll Eyes

The one thing you will find is that there are 'plastic' spirals in there. They appear to break up with age and are thought to be a major cause of Matrix failures in that they block up the waterways. Wink

.                        Ideally it would be circulated through the system with heat  It is not harmful to aluminium or plastics or it couldn't be used in central heating systems  It might work cold by soaking for a while. How about trying calgon or oust descalers mixed with hot water if your matrix is out of the car . You could pour some in then block the flow and return pipes and carefully shake it and see what comes out.
