Is there a knack to getting these out? I have the 2 ford extractor wires and they click into place but the unit just will not budge even with the help of a screwdriver.

Andy, once they click into place they need to be pressed outwards, towards the passenger door and steering wheel, so that the pressure releases the holding clips. Wiggle with them in that 'stressed' position. It is a bit  of a fiddle and knack but that should work.  Wink

if you're still stuck

There is another way of getting to the code on the radio if you dont happen to have a set of radio keys,

if you undo the 4 screws that hold the wooden dash fascia in (2 above the radio and 2 above the steering wheel) the wooden fascia can be pulled out enough with the radio still clipped into it to read the code off the side

you can also get your fingers on the metal clips and push them in

Wouls i be correct in saying you need to take the air con compressor off to change the waterpump on the cosworth? That is my next job along with a new engine loom at the same time lol.

If its jamming then its either a stray wire or the Y shaped guide on the back is getting stuck on the metal rail.

nah you dont need to take the air con pump off, just the belt.i think you need to take off the waterpump pulley however to remmove all the little bolts that hold it on

Unscrewing the aerial & cleaning the earth can help – accessed through the interior light aperture.

as above really mate, only other bit to try is cleaning the little connection on the radio, ive seen these go a bit manky, you could also pop a multi meter on either end of the cable to see if it got a high resistance, its just a mini coax cable like what you would have on you tv
