Fully charge the battery. Disconnect it for half hour to reset the ecu then reconnect and leave ticking over for ten mins.

Do a scan and check what codes come up

If it is the engine loom the job's not too bad,if you take the top cover off and gently remove the outer cable cover you may find that the insulation on the wires has disintegrated due to heat, these can be separately insulated and bound back together again,I have used aluminium tape to finish up in the past in an attempt to keep it cooler, whilst you're at it check the wires that come down near the front of the engine to the water sensors and disappear into the bowels for oil pressure sender and crank sensor, you will be able to see far enough from the top as to perished insulation, the cam sensor cable at the back of the engine, which is plain to see on the nearside, have also been seen to be devoid of insulation.

Could have been some damp air or condensation got to the wiring, It was very damp, rather foggy and very humid at 5am yesterday morning around here.

I'd still be checking that loom out.   I've got a new loom on mine now, came off a 2.0Ltr so I had to make some adjustments and extensions, and had an electrician mate manage to change those horrible plugs over from the 2.3Ltr loom to the ones that needed on the 2.0Ltr loom.   The difficult bit was getting the wires on and off the 'crank-sensor' I could only reach them whilst the car was on the ground by removing the oil-filter.   Quite a fiddly job, but I'm glad it's done now, after inspecting the old loom once off the car I realised how bad it was, and I thought it wasn't that bad till then!

But then if I re-read themnnshould they come back?, if not does that mean Huh? Ive lost myself now but I think u know what I mean Grin
