Misleading ABS Warning Lght

I recently had an ABS light that came on at > 10 mph. It reset each time ignition was off but then came back when the car was moving.
I Initially thought it might be a difficult sensor problem so I checked it out with FORSCAN and got Code: C1095 - ABS Pump Motor Circuit Failure.
One of the causes given is low battery which tallied with the fact that the car had been off the road for a year with battery disconnected etc. while I worked on the engine loom and various other things.
I reset the code and after that it didn't come back! So. some codes don't auto-reset which could have led me wildly astray - Hooray for FORSCAN.

Hi Bob

I have yet to find a code that will prevent the ABS light going out once the problem is fixed.
The code will however remain in memory unless cleared although I’ve never left one for any significant length of time to know if it will clear after X number of successful test cycles.

There is a low battery code but I suppose the absence of that doesn’t rule out low battery being the cause of your C1095 ABS Pump Motor Circuit Failure. It is however a fault that sneaks up on you sometimes staying away for months until it becomes permanent. Hopefully that’s not the case with yours.

Yes Forscan works extremely well especially with other modules like ABS as you don’t have to go via other tabs to access them it just reads them all automatically at start up. It also can run a test on ABS which appears to briefly run the pump & possibly the valves- you can hear it run & just feel it if you press on the brake.

Thanks Dave,
my problem was that the light only came on when rolling and seemed definitely due to the sticky code. Once I cleared the code, the problem went away and its been OK for a few weeks. I used to get an occasional warning when the battery was low but they always self-cleared.
So, this was all a bit odd and I just want to warn anybody who might think they have a dreaded sensor problem to try resetting the codes first.
