Just had the cossie running after standing for a month only to find when she got to operating temp there was smoke and a burning smell comming up from the n/s rear of the engine from somewhere below the heat cover for the inlet manifold. Has anyone any idea's of what it could be please? Thanks in advance Andy

possible oil thats leaked from the rocker cover gaskets and has been sitting on the exhaust manifold, other then that theres nothing to burn on that side of the car, the oil thats on that side of the engine (dip stick, head drains) isnt under pressure so wont be squirting on the exhaust

Yup - my money is on leaky rocker cover gaskets as well. You can change them if you want but if it were my car I'd just take it for a good run and burn all the oil off It's never going to leak enough to leave you low on oil. Worst case scemario is it might just look a bit unsightly.

Looks like the last person did that Amiga as the engine is covered in thick caked on oil. I see the gaskets are cheap on ebay so will change them in the summer when I get through the long list of defects needing to be sorted. Thanks everyone.
