Tyre Sizes

Hello Friends.   I'm currently running 225/55 by 16 on the twelve spokes.   My winter tyres are 205/60 by 16 on black twelve spokes.   I'm due to replace all four of my summer tyres, and I've found a nice medium-range tyre that grips well in dry and wet that I've fitted to the Jag.   Only problem is this tyre isn't done in a Scorpio size, the closest I can get is 225/60 by 16.   So, does anyone know for sure that the car will take the extra 12mm rolling-radius without fouling on any part of the body?

Regards

Peter

I dont know if they will hit, though I would have thought not. I have used this site before http://www.brspecialtuning.co.uk/tyre%20size%20calculator.htm. I have Avon ZV5 on my Scorpio and Eos and they seem a very good tyre.

Aye, good site that.   As I thought there's about 12mm difference in Rolling-Radius.   I suppose I'll just have to try, and if they foul I'll save the tyres for the Jag!

Have you tried looking at 205/55r16 tyres - LOTS more choice and much cheaper.  I'm running those on my Ultima 24v (Uniroyal Rainsport 3's) that I got for £45 a corner.  Ride is much nicer as well.

Hey Amigafan

That's the exact winter tyre I'm running.   Except I'm 205/60 by 16.   I'm hoping to put a specific tyre on for summer use, but it's only available 225/60 rather than 225/55.   I like the look and performance of 225's for summer.

Bit of a late reply but the usual tyre sizes for 16" wheels on the Scorp are 225/50r16.

Btw, the Uniroyal RS3 is a summer tyre, not a winter tyre.

Personally, I found the tramlining bad with 225's - that's why I prefer the 205's now.  From the side, the profile is exactly the same on 205/55 compared to 225/50.  Performance wise, I've not noticed any drop off in grip.
