Metric/Imperial Readings

My dash readings for Average fuel/average speed/temp have always been metric, i.e. in kilometres.   Except my temp reading, (which I leave it on) reads in Degrees 'C'.     Now yesterday I tried to change it all to MPH/MPG etc by doing as the handbook says and pressing the 'S' button, so nothing changed, except now the blasted temperature reads in Degrees 'F'!   I can't seem to get it back to read 'C'?

Question..................How can I return it to dgrees 'C', and does the other stuff always read in kilometres?

Try taking the switch out, spray with electrical contact cleaner, leave a few minutes to dry then try again. I have MPG/Miles left(fuel) and temp in degrees C.

The buttons each use different value resistors via the same wire, bad connections dirty contacts, poor solder joints etc can cause the wrong resistance so nothing happens. Sometimes pressing the 2 smaller buttons at the same time will give the right resistance & get it to change.
You can check the resistance as part of the dash diagnostic – but it probably won’t be of great use.

I think I've got a couple of spare switches, might that be worth a try?   Also, I notice when it's dark and the lights are on only the Mode and S are back-lighted, not the R, is this right?

They should all be lit, I think they're little LED's soldered to the board.
