Bonnet Catch

Thanks to Tompion I have now managed to post this c...p photo in  relation to the bonnet catch issue.

The cable came adrift from the lever despite having been previously 'secured' with cable ties. In attempting to refix it I discovered that this method is liable to fail as the ties move however tight you do them. Mine is now wired on!
I found two things whilst doing this job. (1) on the 2.0Ltr you can get your arm up and reach the latch by hand.
(2)  The purpose of the rubbish shot is to show the route to take either by hand or with the bar mentioned elsewhere.
Essentially it is up between the engine and the rad. MY mate is trying to indicate the precise position with his orange gloved finger. You will see that this is just to the right, when you are under the car, of the fixing bracket for the air intake box.
Failing to get this route right meant we went through the rigmarole of undoing the front grill and then releasing the bonnet catch that way!
The car now has an emergency release mechanism fitted. On that point we found that in order to get  the right 'pull' it was better to use a really strong thin cord rather than thin braided wire as the latter would not run round the bends sufficiently smoothly in order to activate the lever.

As has been said before fit an emergency pull before the need arises. I thought the cable tie system would suffice but clearly I was wrong Sad
