Mike, if you read This page there is no mention of such a switch. I have no personal knowledge of the Cosworth BUT I understand that the temperature on these cars is controlled by the ECU. On the 2.0ltr there is a sensor on the block which provides the information.
Hopefully a Cosworth 'buff' will be along to help. Wink

Hi Mike,

Afraid I'm not a Cosworth buff, assuming it's the control of the fans you're interested in I imagine it's the engine temperature sensor.

The location of the ECT is shown at the bottom of the page here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/24vcomponents.htm

or look here under Engine Management - Cosworth 24V:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/emmanuals.htm

The temp gauge sender is here under instruments:

The fans are indeed controlled by the ECU. There is no thermal switch on the Cosworth. The ECU gains its information from the temp sensor on the block not the one at the front near the top- this has a single wire and only serves the temp gauge.
By contrast the diesel and the 2.9i "Cologne" engines do have a thermal switch for the fans as they do not have the EECV , but have the EECIV which can't control the fans.
