2.3 Exhaust

I wondered if anyone had experience of tracking down a replacement exhaust system.
A week or so back I went to an independent tyre and exhaust place, it started well because there was no curled lip or muttering when I mentioned Scorpio, just got asked what engine size and reg. Then I was quoted £239 and three days to get parts.
Several days later I enquired and it turned out the quoted parts are actually NLA, they are tracking down different bits from different suppliers and the price has climbed to £340.
It's the centre box under the passenger compartment that is in a particularly bad state. I just wondered what experiences there are of finding the parts?

If you are near Bootle there is a decent used one on ebay for £29.99 complete with the rear box.

Thanks all, that is interesting, my search didn't turn up the ones on EBay, price of those looks very reasonable. Some of the ones my search did reveal were £400+.
Unfortunately I'm only near Bootle twice a year or so and not in the near future.
