reversing sensors

Lately the reversing sensors on my estate has started to to red and constant beep, for a few seconds then assume normality. even when you stop - bit concerning as I cant rely on them now.
Have cleaned the sensors - original ford ones with just 2 sensors and the recessed lenses. Any ideas - it goes quicker forward so perhaps I just use that Wink

For those of us that still have scorpio's the bumpers are proving hard to find now and they are the first thing to "crunch" Shocked

I can't see why they would act in this way unless the control box is somehow faulty?
Personally I'd invest in a cheap set of aftermarket sensors which are a lot less than replacing a bumper....if you can find one! Smiley

OR perhaps i could hang a tyre on the back-but people would confuse it with a 4x4 (driver's IQ by the way (16) then wouldn't they.
I do have a spare set but they're for the other estate  Cool

So does the control box disconnect from the wiring/ as it looks pretty well sealed to me. Seems to work Ok if the car is stood but after driving a short while it fails again Cry

The module has a multiplug for the sensors and display and detaches easily, however the module also has a ground wire and a feed from the reversing lights. On the estate I think it resides on the floorpan not far from the rear. (can't be sure as all mine are saloons.

Hi Glyn, thanks for the note. I have a spare set for the other estate, but couldn't see how the main plug is disconnected, 2 large lugs on the top seem to be there forever.
Will check the earth, as you say it's probably by the cd and speaker for the back left side.
Hope you're keeping well, did you ever get the other front bumper you were after??

Fixed now
After a suggestion that the error may be being caused by the tailgate wiring connectors (estate mind) - I summoned my carry everywhere Ford Scorpio fixing kit, A right hand was used to wigle all 4 rubber bits from the car to the tailgate, and..... IT WORKED  Shocked Shocked Shocked

See al you need to fix a scorp is a good right hand , and of course some wires to wiggle.

Problem now solved-thanks for all the help
