Having a problem with the fan for the rad staying on / coming on with car locked and parked. 12v estate jun 1995 we understand the switch is at the top of rad somewhere help needed This was fixed by local spanner but now has run battery down again, passenger side fan only comes on as you charge with battery charger. Have removed fuse 39 aux box so we can charge the battery.

Hi Roy I thought there was a couple of senders on the inlet side? One sender for the temp' gauge, and the other for the message to the temp sender further down the line to the Rad'. (I might be wrong!) But the sender on the inlet 'defaults' to the fans being ON all the time, so if that sender is faulty, or, if a wire is broken or, the plastic cap has come adrift or broken, then the fans will stay on, however, they should stay ON only for a timed period. Now that info was for the latter of the 12v cars, yours being a 1995 could be different. Now you're saying, that only the one fan is coming on, but this default is for FULL fan power, so, my thought would be a fault with this manifold sender, (it will have 4 wires out of it) and I suspect one of the wires is brittle or chaffed, giving the message that 'Half' power is needed. This situation 'should' change whit switching in and out the 'Air-Con', if the car has air-con. See how you get on. Peter

The fan sender unit is located on the right hand side of the radiator when looking from the rear I seem to remember its a push and twist fit The location is where the red cap is. There is a bigger picture and full explanation on the main site Also look HERE
