Dirty injectors!!!

Hallo:

There was a dispute at the main site if dirty injectors push LTFT to reach or lean! I was desperately struggling with gas guzzling on my 2.0 16V. I cleaned MAF, replaced sparkplugs I was even going to remove the catalyst. Then I finally went to FDS equipped garage. The FDS show all the sensors and the cat  are OK, no DTCs except that of EGR (it was plugged by a bolt). But the time of injectors being opened was long. So we realized that the injectors were gummed and the mixture was lean. PCM increased the time they are opened in order to compensate, enriching the mixture. Oddly enough it didn’t  affect LTFT greatly as it should be expected. I’ve had injectors thoroughly cleaned with special equipment. Their opening time shortened, MPG improved. I’ve even unplugged EGR cause it wasn’t the culprit.

I know dirty injectors are not a problem in Europe, but Russian petrol is awful. But I think it’s worth having injectors cleaned on Wynn’s equipment for older cars.

Best regards,
OHC
