Hi All, Just got the software from OBD.com All installed ok, including driver for USB/serial interface. BUT keep getting UNABLE TO CONNECT response. The log on procedure is: 1. Switch on laptop, allow to boot up. 2. connect the lead to pc and car 3. turn on ignition 4. Run obd and go to "Connect". I've had car scanned 2ce before (Eric_R & Waders) and had no trouble connecting. I've got the "blue" cable (PMW). Is there anything I'm doing wrong or is there anything else to try before I contact Alex at OBD.com? Thanks, Pegasus

It's the USB thing, It can be a bit of a B**** I gave up on USB eventually, but I believe there some good adaptors from Belkin at about £30, a bit pricey, but I am told they always work. With XP there is sometimes an issue with the USB serial converter Driver, so read the info with the disk. Good Luck. Bob

Hi, done all that was suggested - still no connection I've wiggled, waggled and pushed the connector endlessly. Had the timeout at 2 and 4. All without success. I bought the USB/serial interface from Alex P so I'll be most upset (I'm trying to keep it clean!) if this is the problem. I've checked the device manager on laptop - it says all ok! Below is a brief log: Any ideas anyone? Thanks Paul Tue 21 Jun 2005 version 1.23 14:18:14.1 - initializing serial port 14:18:14.1 - connected rs232 port 3 14:18:14.1 - initializing vehicle using blue router 14:18:14.7 - Log In #1 SAE J1850 PWM @ 120 14:18:15.2 - timeout 2 mode= $22 14:18:15.2 - no response 14:18:32.1 - Log In #7 SAE J1850 PWM @ 120 14:18:32.5 - timeout 2 mode= $22 14:18:32.5 - no response 14:18:33.9 - terminated scan 14:18:51.7 - overwriting C:\CAR-CODE\NOCONECT.dat 14:18:51.7 - saved 0 messages 2 KB to : C:\CAR-CODE\NOCONECT manufacturer files: Core Not Defined none

Done it!! In XP you have to assign a COM # to the USB port you've actually put the connector into. Trouble was when I identified the port it came up with a message "already in use - you may b*gg*r up the device" (or words to that effect) but hell what did I have to lose - it then connected Let the fun and games commence: just confirmed that LTFT are still -10%ish and MAF clean (0.378 ) Just waiting for the fuel pressure regulator from Ford Direct (its been on 'urgent' back order!!) then should solve my intermittent hot stall.
