Hi all Ive had a look at www.obd-2.com but im a bit confused what with Pontiacs and Chevvys etc Does everyone here use the same software from that site? I know there are different leads, which would be the best to get? I would like eventually to be able to scan other manufacturers/makes of car, is this possible with one lead or would i need different ones? Thanks in advance OBD NEWBIE

hi there most of us use this lead/ software. if you're looking at scaning other makes etc, then you need to go for....... TRIPLE COMBO - contains three networks for use on most vehicles $162 TRICOM - one piece car connector interface, hardware processing, for most vehicles $182 TRICAN - same as TRICOM with a Control Area Network (CAN) for all vehicles $240 Only one cable and connector needed, combo router blade box selects correct vehicle network. one day i'm going to trade in my ford lead for the tricom or trican lead.

Cheers Andrew are these cables not available in this country? Or more likely are they available at huge prices?

hi there you can get leads from all over, but they don't work with the VE software from Alex P. another reason is that most of us use the same software, so you can post your saved scan and everyone can check it and reply with some advice.

Last question! Promise! Does Alex P supply the tricom/trican leads too and do they work with this software? or does he only supply the lead everyone is using? I'm going to get set up for this so might as well get it right first time
