Hi,

My newish scorp is in dire need of a decent service. After messing up the threads on the star key bolts over two of the spark plugs and shearing a bolt off of the cover I have decided to let my lil' bro help me, he is a halfords man.

We want to use the OBD.

2.0 16v ultima. Aug 1995

He knows everything and I know nothing so please, i need some help. I don't even know the spec of lead I should be browsing ebay for.

Is there a chance I can borrow or buy an obd lead from someone. I want to connect it to a laptop and we intend to find some nice software.

Many thanks, I am going to Glos on Morning os Saturday 22nd Oct. Travelling from Pontypool.

Hi cathyli
I am also a newcomer. I would like to delve into this mystery of OBD's. My car Scorpio Ultima 1998, Computer Dell 8400, or can use my grandsons Laptop. What else do I need and where do I purchase? Please suggest the equipment needed. (You suggest, introduction in detail?)

Hi Guys. I have one now. My bro bought one for most models of cars. Cathlyi, you need some good software to check it out and it should work on any laptop you decide to use. They all vary and most are downloadable once purchased online.

I'm sure someone on here may have some software they can send you for nothing, you'll have to ask around.

Also it would be a good idea to reset the ECU in the program and then run the car around for a while so that the readings are up to date.

On mine, the reading was telling us about the MAF sensor which had recently been replaced due to a voltage error, the last owner hadn't had the ECU reset so it was still displaying. After we reset the readings we had the current faults.
