No Error Codes - But engine wont start

Hello Everyone, I am using Digimoto Software with an ELM320 interface (didn't read all of the fordscorpio site before I purchased DOH) running on a Scorpio 24V Cosworth. It basically works as I get coolant temp / air temp reading etc. But no error codes are displayed despite the engine not starting (no spark at the plugs). From reading all about OBD11 on the fordscorpio site the interface should give masses of info, self check, sensors OK, Modules connected etc but I get nothing in the error codes. Is this normal? Does the engine have to run? do I need to buy the setup recomended on the fordscorpio site to get any sense..... Scorpio and OBD11 virgin at the moment and getting a bit stressed....... Can any one help me with some answers please. Thanks, SteveS

Steve, don't know that much about OBD but as per my other post I had a similar problem and never got any error codes. My fault came down to wiring. It was suggested to me that if a component can't get power to it, or send info back from it due to a wiring fault then a code may not be registered. The mechanic that looked at my car, before he gave up (!) had the ECU tested, cost about £75. If you draw a total blank it may be worth looking at that. Cheers

Ouch indeed Thing is, at that point, we didn't have a clue what was wrong with it. We tried a few things and it wouldn't go so we go the mechanic onto it. When he couldn't get it going after about 2 weeks we attacked it again and finally it came down to the wiring which we repaired. In the end the mechanic only charged us the testing fee and no labour as he had not actually go the car going himself
