obd won't connect

I have a new lap top and the new IBM T43 does not have a parallel port except in the docking station. But that in itself is not a show-stopper as i can get it in the car with the docking station- but it will not connect. It gives me a busy signal but also I get messages to indicate that it the parallel port is not found. I have two Cosworths at present and the situation is the same on both so not the cars I think. I also transferred the obd programme to the new lap top and maybe this is not perfectly successful as I guess it configured itself for the old computer. Any suggestions ? I still have the software code and was thinking of downloading the programme again and restarting completely. Is this possible ? I am about to sell Cosworth 1 and would like to do that knowing if any fault codes exist. I haven't run a scan for 6 months. Malcolm

hi there sounds like a conflict. are you running acti-sync (or something like that) for a PDA? that's what was stopping mine form working.
