Anyone near oxford with OBD??

Hello everyone, I am the proud new owner of a scorpio Cosworth thats showing ABS/TCS warning lights.

Im in the process of ordering an OBD cable and downloading the software.

While Im waiting for things to turn up, is there anyone in the Oxford/Didcot area that can do a scan for me and give me a bit of instruction at the same time?

Im sure I can stretch to a couple of beers in return.

Also am I right in thinking somthing like that (above) will read and clear most error codes, but will not reset ABS/TCS lights?

still no answers?

Well I now have a lead from Alex pepper, unfortunately it wont read anything once connected? I know the port on the car works as my handheld has just picked up 2 DTC.

P0708

P0151

Have cleared both the codes and they have not re appeared. Im interested in P0151 as the car has a racing idle and it would not pass the emissions test because of that?
could really do with some help on this one? Sad cheers!

Try reading through the list HERE which is the result of a search for 'OBD'. Wink, and THIS may help re understanding the sensor.

great! It connected right away, took it for a quick drive then simulated a fast idle test. during fast idle the erratic climbing and dropping of the idle was very evident, as it was impossible to hold at 2500 rpm!

no dtcs though, Im confused!

Glad it helped.  Smiley We are hoping that Pegasus's write up will eventually find a place in the 'permanent' pages.  A common cause of idle problems is an air leak. Have you checked out this possibility?. Try reading THIS if you haven't done so.

Having pondered on this whilst getting dragged round Tesco, I am in agreement. If no physical component is faulty then there should be no dtcs.

So all that is left is the strong possibility of an air leak... b****r!

If there is no 'obvious' noise you could try spraying carb cleaner, preferably with a 'thin nozzle' on (as with WD40 ) and see if that affects the engine speed. Use of the nozzle will give you a more localised effect when trying to source the leak.If you've read the link you'll see that there is a 'T' piece which is particularly prone to break.
