ABS problem, what this code means?

Hi,

I have an ABS problem, (ABS light on all the time), and abs not working. I have checked the sensors and they are all OK, and I replaced the ABS pump and controller as well. Still the problem exists. I have bought recently a tricom cable from Alex, and after some hours with version VE135, I have suceeded to get a code C1267, that I do not understand what it means. Anybody that could give a piece of advice is welcome. Thanks in advance! Cry

hi there

you said you checked the  sensors. how? using a meter?

have you check ALL the  fuses?

when you cleared the error code, did the light go out? was it out at start up check? if yes, did it then come back on at the 15mph test?

Hi,
I have checked the sensors with a meter, (1070 ~Ohms), I have also cleared the sensors of the rear wheels. All fuses are checked, they are OK. After the first check the light comes on, it did not go away, even I clear the ABS error. (C1267 ABS FTD-ABS Functions Temporarily Disabled -received from brake controller addres $2Cool That' all I get from VE135, and VE138. I also checked and cleared the cable connectors, still the problem exists, and I have to fix it ASAP, as MOT date is already gone! Your help is welcome!

hi there

what engine is it? does it have traction control? if so, is it working ok?

where did you check the wheel sensors? at the first connection in the wheel arch (front ones) and under the rear seat? or at the controler? might be something in the wiring? i take it you've broke and cleaner the connections for any dirt/rust?

bit of a strange one this. Huh

Hi,
I do not have traction control, that's a 2.0 ltr 16v ghia. I have checked the sensors in the wheel arch (the front ones), and under the the seat for the rear ones. I cleaned them with WD40. I did not check them in the controller, as I do not know what pins to check. That's very strange to me too!

Do you know what version of ABS you have?
This is the pinout for the sensors on the later version:

It probably isn’t helpful looking at codes for other makes, but just in case here are 3 for that code on other cars that I found on the net:
Right rear inlet valve solenoid.

Internal malfunction.

Brake pedal load sensing switch

Thanks Dave for your answer, I think I have the older Teves Version, as the model is a 1995  make. The pub and controller is bigger in size than the new one. About the code meaning, internal mulfuction can be whatever, but about inlet valve solenoid, and brake pedal sensing switch, I think they must be into the controller/pub part. And this is taken from a working system. I have also checked from the net and found some ABS electric diagram, and as far as I understand, the pins in the controller for the sensors is 5,6 for LH side front, 7,8 for RH side front, 9,10 for LH side rear, and 11,12 for RH side rear. I am going to check them soon in the controller this time, and I let you know!

Hi Dave,

I have checked the sersors from controler side, values are very good (all around 1050 Ohms), I do not think It's an earth problem, I clean the plugs in any way.

Finally the problem is solved, with a very expensive way in the Ford service. The pub I bought from Jacks Car Parts was defective as well. After the installation of a new one the problem is away, and ABS works as it should do. After contacting Jacks Parts to return the defective one, I got a reply "no, it has gone past the seven days for returns". In any way, I thank you all for your help, that a great site!

If the pump you bought from Jacks was a new part then you are entitled to a full refund under "The sales of goods and services act", regardless of what a retailer says about "7 days return policy" they cannot change the "sales of goods act" for thier own benefit.  So if it was a new pump go back and quote the "sales of goods act", in the first six months its up to the retailer to prove the goods aren't faulty not the buyer.

So get your hard earned money back.
