After being glued to browsing this site for the last few months finally had the courage to enrol. Certainly have not found a more informative and comprehensive site like it I have a 1997 ex Dutch Police Transit Van, with just over 175,000 km. and not much rust It's powered by a 2 liter petrol/Lpg, Dohc Efi, which brought me to this fantastic site. I bought myself an OBD2 cable to read the codes after a bit of bad running on Petrol. Got two codes come up First forgotten the number but to do with running lean bank 1 (not recurred) the second code is P0412 secondary air injection valve, which is repeating. Having had diesel Transits for most of my driving life am not to familiar with the petrol versions, but can see on my engine the EGR has been removed and the pipe welded shut, also on the exhaust manifold there are four metal pipes that have also been cut and welded closed. Can somebody please confirm if these are part of the SAI System, which has also been removed. After clearing the codes it goes much better but also changed fuel filter and put in injector cleaner too so don't really know if it had something to do with a DTC.

P0412 Secondary Air Injection System Control Valve Faulty. Info taken from this sites fault code listing. The SAIS puts air back into the exhaust to promote combustion of unburnt fuel in the exhaust before it reaches the cat.
