Translation help appriciated

I have a Triple Combo Lead of Alex Peper, which works well with my Scorp and with the 1998 1.3l KA of my doughter. Now I got a late 2004 KA with Duratec motor, which apparently requires a CAN lead. Im thinking of replacing my lead. When reading on Alex's homepage I hit upon this sentence: "Upgrade: $100 Trade-In exchange allowance." I can translate every word, but I am not sure about the meaning. Can someone native English speaker please explain me, what Alex exactly has meant with this statement? I do not want to go directly to Alex, because I think he still is seriously ill. Also from the homerpage ...Downloads Due to TBI PTSD PTE CTE FTD temporal brain damage after run over by Dodge Ram, next update will be Sept 15 2013. ... This reads quite sarcastic and serious, especially if it was probably written in 2010. Some sentences in the last part after the headline 'an Expression of Freedom' of this article make me believe that the author of the Vehicle Explorer is probably not keen to help me sort my CAN bus problem. However, miracles happen, and if I would know if Alex originally had intended to make Lead upgrades possible, I would dare a contact attempt. Regards Armin

As I understand it from old posts over on the mailing list you send Alex the old lead & he’ll deduct $100 from the cost of the new lead. The turn around was said to be quite quick a few years ago. Since it’s not mentioned on the order form the only way would appear to be to email him.
