pats system on Mondeo

I have recently bought a Mondeo 24v to play with. Can anyone tell me the sequence for reprogramming the key? Batterys flat. Is it a Pats system as in the Scorpio. john.n

John, done a bit of looking about and it would seem that it is a PATS system on your Mondeo Take a look here... http://www.fixafordcar.co.uk/keys.htm ...may be of some help.

The master key can only be programmed with the aid of FDS 2000 or NGS. It can however be used without such equipment to programme additional slave keys. Slave Keys 1. Insert the master key into the ignition lock barrel and turn from position 0 to position II. The Indicator LED will illuminate. 2. Turn the key from position II to 0 and remove. The indicator LED illuminates for two seconds. The system remains in the programming mode for 10 seconds. 3. Insert the slave key into the ignition lock barrel and turn from position 0 to II. This must be carried out within 10 seconds of step two. The indicator LED flashes once and the slave key is now programmed. 4. Repeat step three for each slave key to be programmed.

Thanks to both of you, unfortunatley the key that came with the car is an aftermarket one so untill i charge the battery (today) and put it back on the car i am still in the dark. I will post how i get on. john.n
