Yep that's 391, at Blackpool Airport and has been allowed to basically rot away. None of the parts were even salavgable to help put XH558 back in the air. Sad to see the big old bird falling to bits... those pictures have been around for 2 years that I know of so it probably looks much worse now. Price is a bit steep considering the RAF gave it away at the end of it's flying life.

Seems the seller has got control of this now, it stands at £13,700 and you need to be on an approved list to bid for it. Bogus bidders spoiling the auction... I had a gut feeling that this was legit from the start, wonder how much it will go for and where to?

Having seen the old bird quite recently. Sadly I wouldn't give it house room .. Shame when it arrived there it was pristine except for all the 'missing' stuff but as previoulsy stated the salt air and weather has played havoc with it.. I bet it wil fall to bits when they try to move it.. should keep down the cost it it doesn't have to be dismantled.! hope the 'other' one will fly soon can't afford to wait much longer

Hi Vulcan Was in the RAF at Cottesmore 1966/67 on Operations, and these Vulcans used to keep me awake at night. Imagine having twenty Vulcans in your back garden 24/7..And living 600 yds from the main runway.. Nothing more awesome than three Vulcans armed with atomic weapons on the QRA (Quick Reaction Alert) Dispersal starting all four engines together and then taxying and airbourne in under 4 minutes. The earth really does move.!!! Most days we would have a Excercise EDOM Start Engines. Readiness State 15. (Keeps the crews on there toes) Tends to leave an impression on you for life.. Would be nice to see one fly again. Will probably bring a lump to my throat. "GET-SOME-IN" Regards Mike..

The only Vulcan I know really well is XL319 at Sunderland..in fairly bad condition now. corrosion on every major plate. Sadly now they don't allow access into the aircraft as rain ingress has rotted the interior and it "stinks" a bit Another big old bird dying from neglect..... next year TVOC may get XH588 in the air... now wherever that airshow is and whatever the cost.. I AM THERE!!!

You may be interested to know that the Vulcan is to be put in the beer garden of the Snipe Inn at Dukenfield, Tameside according to the Manchester Evening News. Even more appropriate is that the phrase "sniping" is used on EBay to describe a last minute bid which wins the auction....just what he did apparently!! Baz
