Sea Monkeys..

Due to a christmas present for my 10 yr old daughter I now have a small tank of odd sea creatures on my desk.
They are on my desk cos I have a small Halogen lamp which was of perfect height and heat to keep the things alive.

Xmas week nowt but cloudy water...
New Year... some very tiny odd things swimming about
Last week. bigger funny things moving..
this week.. flippin heck they are a cm across...

Worried.. I have now a pod of strange alien beings growing to maturity before my eyes... said daughter now totally uninterested.. me .. watching 50 or so weird swimming things... waiting for the big one to climb out.....!!!!!

It's supposed to be a sort of science project come instant pets idea I think...
http://www.sea-monkeys.com/home.html

She just hasn't a huge amount of interest now. When it was first being set up she got into all the adding stuf to water thing but now she just looks in and says "aren't they getting big" and walks off.
It's now down to me to aerate the water and feed the things.

Apparently if they die off you let the water evaporate then fill it up again and a whole new load will come to life.

Really wierd!

Hmm, a friend had some sea monkeys.. they were pretty unhealthy though. I was fascinated by the idea. "Are they actually alive?!" mad. It's like having goldfish except far simpler.

I've gone for a Bonzai Potato myself. Actually, it wasn't my idea.. the same friend who had the monkeys gave it to me.

And this is mine

Takes 4-6 weeks to really get going, it's had a week so far. These things are going to be very popular, I can feel it!

Maybe a grow your own Scorpio. You get a KA in a box and by adding bits and pieces and with a bit of TLC you end up with a 24v ultima!!

I had tropicals, moved from the wee ones till I had an Oscar the size of a dinner plate and two Plecostomus... in a six foot tank in my living room.
The Oscar would feed cat food from my fingers and only me could clean the tank front without getting a bite from him. Had to give them away when we moved to this house with a much smaller living room.
When I bought Oscar he was the size of a two pence piece an I niavely put him in the tank with a dozen Neons and half a dozen Tiger barbs, two blind cave fish and the Male siamese fighter... Oh and two cleaner shrimp...
Within a month the only thing alive in there was Oscar... then I got given the two Plecs... he couldn't eat those spiky beggars although he gave it a good go... Grin
I miss me fish.... bubbly bubbly in the corner.....

How'd you do the pic Dave? Looks like an actual video converted to an animated gif. Mine is just a still photo doctored in Photoshop.
