I ask this as Madmanscorpio is ripping them apart like there is no to-morrow. and there are others on ebay doing the same and what about all the scrappy around in everybodies towns all cities. In two years time it seems like you will be lucky to get a £1000 for one. mind you if you are a buyer that's not all bad. But the best point is that if you do keep your, in many years to come they could be worth a lot as a vintage car.

As long as us, real enthusiasts, keep our scorpios on the road, then they will achieve "modern classic" status!!

in the past, i often wondered about getting a jag but was told not to in case anything goes wrong. the cost of getting it put right would be very expensive. But it seem like these scorpios cost a lot as well.

John... As you say, with the amount of Scorpio-breaking going on at the moment, it does make you wonder how many will be left in a couple of years The fact that Ford seem to be discontinuing some parts for the Scorpio isn't helping. Nor is the large outlay required for gearbox or engine faults. That will of course make some owners break their cars too. Personally, I can see it at classic car gatherings in the future. Some will see it and say, "Ah... I used to have one of these." Some will simply say "What is it?" And others will probably say "What's THAT doing here?"... a bit like almost everybody used to do when I started taking my Mk3 Cortina to shows. The Cortinas are a bit more welcomed now but getting surprisingly thin on the ground. Not as rare as Scorpios though... maybe

Some of the blame must be laid at insurance companies door - all the time they are writing off cars that can be fixed, why? I was talking to Jack (madmadscorpioman) in the week, he gets salvaged cars written off by insurance companies. He told me about a mondeo only 3-4 years old, recovered after being stolen and all that was wrong was the locks but it was still written off! So if he can repair then he sells them on! The thing is we all pay for this loss on our insurance!! Daven

It's amazing, when you tell car orientated people you've got a Scorpio, you can see them struggling to come up with a mental picture of one, you have describe it to them . It shows what a poor public image the Scorpio has.

hi to music-master. ford already do, its called a Mondeo. but just look at jaguar, they are breaking down right left and centre. ( I mean the new ones) In test reports the are right down the bottom of the league table for realiable. Does anyone know of a large car that will not cost you money in constance repairs etc.

Ford Australia do a large car, The Falcon and it's superb. During our last trip to NZ- this time last year. I was at a number of Ford garages (much to the other halfs annoyance) test driving them and working out the cost to import one over. They are such a good drive, and would make a worthy successor to the scorp. The ESVA and Mr Browns tax take are the main stumbling blocks. The best bit, the smallest engine is the 4litre straight 6 , which comes normally aspitrated or turbocharged , or you can plump for a 5litre V8 . And they cost new about the same as a Focus over here, (£15,000 taking exchange rate into account) it makes you cringe. Paul

Dexix I guess you drove the AU (rounded version) which was good. They had just released the BA version last time I went which was awesome. A bit like the Focus over the escort! Paul
