I hate it and love it at the same time

Tonight I took the Scorp out to get some Wine from the corner shop, less than a mile round trip. Reverse would not select...took more than a minute to drop the revs then wouldn't move till I hit the loud pedal hard. Kangaroo backwards.. Once on the move she was her normal self... oh dear now the power steering has decided I am doing 50mph when i am doing 20 and has kicked into "flippin hard to steer unless you are a bodybuilder" mode. OMG I want a car that works every time.... fed up with this motor now... I love it but I hate the way it makes me feel when I drive it..... The headlight alignment... sometimes they both go up and down as they should ..sometimes the left one just stays immobile while the other bobs up and down.. What flippin gives here..?? The front screen heater.... works on drivers side only... except on the odd day when it works perfectly..... Somone give me 2 grand and take this away from me... I'd take 1800.. maybe less...

make it £500 and you might just be able to sell it. but with the faults no one may be interested. Its a fact of life that people buying 2nd hand want something for nothing, (they call it buying a bargain). Well, I could not sell my 1996 for £1700. No faults, whatsoever. all dash bulbs light up as well and got the full spec. Immatulate, not a single dint or dent. Inside like new. Bumpers like new. and I was selling with a full tank of fuel, mot and some tax left and leaving in car road angel and two nokia car phones professional fitted, as the car used to be the managing director car. of a business. If I had try to sell it for say £500 I might have sold it, but then you would have got tyre kickers want to beat you down in price. So I keeping it, not going to give it away. and its got 12 spoke wheels to include a 12 spoke alloy in the boot, not the steel wheel.

George, I think the feelings you have will have been experienced by pretty much everyone on the board at some time or other! This is where a garage is very useful. Follow these steps: 1) Drive Scorpio into garage 2) Shut garage door 3) Leave it for a bit Joking (?) aside, I tried to deal with one problem at a time, even though there were loads But suddenly, you have a car that you can rely on, and at least you know the work has been done so should be ok for a while. Cheers

The more I read this board , the more I recognise the doom laden gravitas of the words " having trouble selecting me reverse gear ". Hopefully, for me, with 70K on the clock, that day is a long way away ( crossed fingers , lucky rabbits foot and a sacrificed chicken offering to the Great God Henry Ford ). So what is it that knackers an autobox , Cruising the M6 all day in overdrive, or pootering about town, short distance , constant gear changing? and if contaminated fluid is a factor, why isn't there a drain plug and a external filter fitted to the gearbox?
