Hi shipmates, can you fit a facelift grill and trim on to a non face lift?
Any ideas would be welcome. My existing non facelift grill is a bit stone chipped & I would like to improve its nose  Wink

Yes, but you have to have all the bits that go with it.
Others that have the facelift grill will be able to help but the bonnet is the same so it is a yes.

richard..
although the bonnet is the same, the fixing holes for the grill are not,so what you will need is the bracket that ford sell, that you bolt the grill onto, then bolt the bracket with the grill on,onto the car....
price about 6 mts or so ago was about £13.00

Hi,

I'm curious what this 'bracket' actually does - if the bonnets are the same, then aren't the mounting holes in the same places?   (Doesn't the grille/surround just bolt on with (6?) bolts?)

I'm not saying anyone's wrong, I'd just like to know more, as I want to make the same mod one day...

Cheers,
Nick H.

I'm selling one on ebay at the moment but the mounting holes on the bonnet all appear to be the same as those on the non facelift. The opening bracket changed I believe but not the holes in the bonnet, otherwise, why are there so many old pre-facelifts driving round with the new and improved facelift ones?

Interesting, Baz...

My new Tourmallard Green Ultima could do with one of those...

[BTW: What the flip is a "Tourmallard" - who at Ford has the job of making up these names?!  I'd like to read their job description... Grin ]

Hi all!! I've tried to fit a couple of facelift grilles to non facelift bonnets now, and the only fixings that line up are the ones on the ends, but not the middle ones! If you take a close look at a facelift grille fitted to a early scorp, you will find the middle of the grille is loose! (gibbio has got this problem if i remember rite)  Smiley

Oddly enough I have fitted a pre facelift to my facelift car and it seemed to line up perfectly, at least I don't remember any problems. I did it in the summer...see pic below...

The extra holes in the bars are there to pull it back into line as the two end screws where missing from the grille I had, but if they had been there they would have slotted through the holes perfectly.

i think there might be some confusion here.......

IF you buy/acquire/obtain a second hand grill from a facelift, and want to put it on your pre-facelift,there would not be a problem because the fixing bracket would already be on the grill in the first place.......

IF HOWEVER you buy one NEW from fords or equilavent, you WILL need the fixing bracket, because the holes will not line up,(well the 2 middle holes anyway),now dont ask me why this is because i dont know the answer to that, all i do know is this, when i bought my facelift grill NEW,that is all you get the grill, the badge, chrome surround and mounting bracket are all "extra",and to fit the grill to the car,you have to have the mounting bracket.................

hope this clears up the confusion...
